Haighton Manor was the venue for last week's successful launch of the LLDC's project "Involving Service Users in Staff Appraisal" 42 delegates from 25 Learning Disability provider organisations attended for an 8:30 start, despite the arctic condidtions.
The day was opened (after bacon barms and coffee) by Mr Steve Gross, Lancashire County Council's Head of Commissioning and Acting Director of Adult and Community Services - Steve spoke warmly of the work of the Lancashire Workforce Development Partnership (LWDP) which had provided funding for the project, remarking that it was a good example of the way that a small amount of money could be made to go a long way by partnership working and result in development of best pratice across the sector.
In the absence of Mr Dave Naden (LLDC Chair) Fergus Stokes (LLDC Treasurer) then introduced the project, explaining the research work which had been commissioned from Ms Maria Robins-Bailey, then introducing Ms Heather Wightman who had been commissioned to develop the training pack and launch programme.
Heather steered the rest of the morning, working with delegates to explore person centred practice principles, appraisal tools and strategies to overcome resistance to this way of working.
Martin Layton, core group member, gave a vote of thanks.
The evaluations completed by delegates indicated that the training offered was well received and valuable.
Those wishing to access the training materials should contact LLDC to apply for membership which will include a login to this site's members' area. |

Many thanks in advance for your help

Payment by results could be introduced to offer incentives for adult care providers to improve, the government said this week.
Providers' income from councils could be linked to performance in adult care, in a similar fashion to payment by results systems used in the NHS and the welfare-to-work systems, a proposed performance framework stated.
The document also revealed that the Care Quality Commission's quality ratings for providers, abolished this year, would not be replaced by a routine system of rating providers. Instead, a new excellence rating would be introduced, which providers apply to be rated against and which would be awarded by the CQC in partnership with user groups and sector bodies.
